Don Hall Youngstown doors

bean_bowl <bkooistra@...>

I searched in the archives, but couldn't find anything comprehensive
as to the various styles of Youngstown doors Don Hall is producing.
There's the doors for the B-50-25 SP "overnight" cars--but does anyone
have a list of what other 6' Youngstown doors are or have been
produced? Will all of them eventually return to stock?

thanks,

Blair:

Dan's list can be found at http://www.steamfreightcars.com/modeling/parts/partsmain.html.

Des Plaines Hobbies sells them, too. The doors you are referring to are an early Youngstown door than can be used to make a B-50-24 "Overnight" car. In addition, I will be offering a mini kit with these doors, resin ends and custom decals to do the SP/T&NO B-50-25 cars that used these doors. These will be ready for sale this month (really!)

In addition to the doors listed at the site referenced and these, Dan's is at work on some others that will be useful to us. I'll let him announce them when is ready.

Well, I give up. I looked at steamfreightcars.../partsmain.html a
couple of weeks ago when this was mentioned, and again just now, and
(to use a steam era phrase), I'll be a monkey's uncle if I can find the
Dan Hall list.

Dan is his name. The company is Southwest Scale Reproductions.

AH! That s'plains it. . .I thought I just wasn't privy to the Steam Era Freight Car viewing oracle (you get one free when you order your fifth Sunshine kit).

That said, while I see plenty o'Superior doors, I don't see mention of his Youngstown doors (which was the topic of the subject line), so they're either not on there (or the list isn't updated), or, indeed, I don't have my Steam Era Freight Car viewing oracle yet.

BTW, is Westerfield the best bet for the 6-7-6 "tall" Youngstown door (as seen on the NP 10' high 1937 AAR cars)??

I don't believe they are fully available yet as Dan is catching upon shooting parts after having to upgrade molding equipment.

Ted,

I hope that you will carry all of Dan's products to make their purchase easier. For now, why
don't you stock his Superior doors and then pick up his Youngstown doors when they
become available? BTW: I love your decals.

List,

During the Naperville weekend, I took a trip over to Des Plaines
Hobbies to pay my respects. Every one of Dan Hall's doors was in
stock, and I bought several of each. For those who don't want to
wait untl Ted gets his "virtual store" up and running, I suggest
calling Des Plaines. They do offer mail order service.
