HOWDY AND A BLESSED 2009 TO YOU ALL:
In the era 1950-1955 what type car would carry the products listed below
{in HO scale}:
LINSEED OIL
WHITE LEAD
And thin wire to make Brillo Pads
and in the making of Laundry Soap

Joel,
It would depend on the facilities at the receiver's plant. If they
ordered 10,000+ gallon quanties in bulk, a tank car would deliver the
linseed oil; if they ordered in 3,000 gallon packaged quanties the
linseed oil probably arrived in 40-55 gallon drums or larger carboys.
If the plant had the ability to draw wire(elongate it), it could arrive
as coiled wire rod in a gondola. If the purchasing agent only wanted
30,000 pounds on hand and the plant used it as received it would
probably be shipped by boxcar or truck.
Lots of options, no one answer.
