1952 CRI&P box cars
Michael Bishop <goldrod_1@...>
In 1952 the CRI&P or Rock Island Railroad celebrated 100 years of service by having a special herald on new cars. I have seen pictures which show 40' single door box cars painted this way and I have several model box cars lettered this way, but did the Rock Island use this "100 years of Progress" on other types fright cars? Thanks for any help.

No, the RI did not use this special logo on any other cars. They were used on 2000 PS-1 boxcars as well as 1000 ACF welded side box cars, both 40'6" IL built in 1951 and 1952.

Interestingly, Pullman Standard also celebrated their 100th year in 1952 and had a special builder's badge used on some cars built that year to note that. It was, however, not used on the RI cars.
