Tangent PRR gon...
Steve Lucas <stevelucas3@...>
Is it just the car that I purchased the other day, or do others have trouble with the wheelsets binding when rolling the car down straight (tangent) track? The wheelsets roll well in the trucks themselves .
Thanks in advance, Steve Lucas. Sent from my iPod |

Steve,
Use the Kadee washers between the frame and the truck. I had those problems also and corresponded with Tangent about. They work fine once the washers are used. Sounds strange Steve. Mine went from the box to the adjustment track and then to mainline! Ran like a champ! First Tangent buy and best of offshore models so far!

I purchased three of the gondolas at the NMRA in Milwaukee and all three gave me problems. I used the Kadee washers and they run like a champ. This was only a problem with the second run cars, the first run released at Naperville last year didn't have this problem. Simple fix and once Tangent heard about it they posted info on their website.

So the trick is just to shim between the trucks and body bolsters a little. Now to find my Kadee coupler height gauge and see how little shimming I can get away with. By the way, those Whisker couplers on this car break easily. But I have to go to my LHS soon anyhow... Thanks for the advice, everyone! How'd you break a whisker coupler, I haven't managed that yet?

I broke the shank behind the coupler head while adjusting the trip pin after I found that it bound on closure rails. Of course, if I knew about this car riding low in the first place--but I do now. Steve Lucas. --- In STMFC@..., "Brian J Carlson" <prrk41361@...> wrote:
