This article is the sixth in a series covering American box car designs that were built in large quantities during the first half of the 20th century. The article covers the Pennsylvania Railroad wagon-top box and automobile cars that were built from 1933 to 1937 (X31, X32, X33 and subclasses plus other derivatives). It article contains 89 prototype photographs, 26 diagrams, 8 model photographs, and one comprehensive table. Railroads that received similar wagon-top cars such as the Norfolk & Western and DT&I will be covered in a follow-on article. General American Airslide Covered Hopper Cars, Part 3 (39 pages) by Ed Hawkins. The article covers the GATC Airslide cars that were built from 1954-1959 and leased by numerous companies including Pillsbury, Sunshine Biscuits, Nabisco, and International Milling. The article contains 70 page-width prototype photographs of GACX Airslide cars, three model photographs, one table of specialty items and design detail changes, and one partial roster.
