Just off the reefer docks (manditory freight car content) is this IGA
produce truck decal set. I originally sized it for a MiniMetals IH R190 but the customer wanted for a late 30's era Ford COE. See: http://home.comcast.net/~jerryglow/samples/IGA_truck.jpg -- Jerry Glow The Villages FL http://home.comcast.net/~jerryglow/decals.html |

Amen to being welcomed since we have them all over the SE. Am talking to Jerry right now about doing Piggly Wiggly, Gulf Oil and Texaco Oil for trucks.

You can go to: http://www.iga.com/locator.aspx
and find the current location of IGA stores. You can scan by state, zip code or other options. This won't tell you if there were stores there in, say, 1930, but if they are there now, there's a reasonable chance they were there years ago. Or try Google for 'IGA stores' and you'll get more searchable information than you'll ever be able to study. The owner of the Piggly-Wiggly chain lived 2 houses down from us on the street behind our house - he passed away in about 2003. He was a lifelong "O" scaler with a large layout in a building behind his house. Sadly, his house and outbuilding are gone now. When P-W was a viable business, he would be approached by salesmen from the various food companies. He gave the salesmen for some of his largest accounts an "O" scale brass Lobaugh reefer for them to paint in their slogans and return to him to run on the layout. I recall one painted with running animals from Libby. Also one from Del Monte. I would also like some decal artwork for P-W in "O" scale. A.T. Since we're going OT, note this one from definitely-not-the-SE-of-USA Stockton, CA:
http://www.groceteria.com/place/california/stockton/stocktons-new-piggly-wiggly-1932/ And, I recall (in a perhaps drug-addled haze) a Piggly Wiggly on the west side of "lower" Shattuck in Berkeley, CA. Perhaps Mr. Thompson can confirm (or deny). Ed Edward Sutorik |

The fellow who lived behind us was the owner of the local area Piggly Wiggly franchises (San Antonio, Texas area). They closed in the early 1960's. Just wanted to clarify that. It bought him a lot of "O" scale models, including steam era freight cars! A.T. Kott |
