A quick glance at the sides left me almost believing that someone had put freelanced lettering on a Westerfield USRA DS boxcar.

The single sheathed ends (with very shallow framing members) and the underframe proved the point that it is a Train Miniature car, after which I noticed the side sill sticks out further than the sheathing.

The alternate reality of the NY&N is also a bit behind on car-building practice, when a wood sheathed boxcar with arch bar trucks and K brakes is built new in 1953!

Still, some nice workmanship on the detailing that was done.

If the pictures are accurate the paint job, its not the best job. Incomplete reporting marks?
I guess its like in rare coins, an error adds to the value. :-)

What I'd really like to hear is a comment from Al Westerfield
who is stated to have provided the olt in left field decals that are
so obviously based on the old New Rork, New Haven & Hartford lettering.
These are really yours Al???????

No doubt a New Haven subsidiary in New York that none of us have run across before!! (-:

I believe the New york and Northern was a little known subsidiary of the New Haven. Their entire fleet of rolling stock consisted of 2 boxcars (or is it box cars) that ran between two on line companies. Since the cars were captive and the shops didn't know any batter, they did not put the data on them. (VBG)
