E&P Associates 58 ft. depressed Center flat car

Brian, These are based on the General Steel Castings design car body. GSC
sold the casting to several railroads as "kit cars". The C of G had 5 of these cars built in the company shops in Savannah. I think the UP, NYC, SAL, ACL, and PRR all had cars that used the same bodies as well. I'm sure there were others I left out. Todd Horton From: STMFC@... Subject: [STMFC] E&P Associates 58 ft depressed Center flat car While at a train show I pick up an E&P Associates General Steel Industries 58 ft Depressed center Flat car. It was made by Samhongsa. It has solid bearing trucks. It was an impulse buy but it was going for less than what Walthers asks for their passenger cars now. It lists Roads as MP, ICG (who before the merger) SOO, B&O, SCL, CEI, LV, SR. Anyone know where I can find out more prototype information? Where these car covered in a Car Builder's cyc? Brian J. E&P made a model of the version that was right for
the
Wabash as well. They had 2 of these GSC kit cars, No. 10 &
11.

I'm reluctant to list all the railroads that had
similar cars because I have no way of telling how similar any are to the
specific model, but it looks like the railroads listed only scratch
the surface.
NH 17080-17082 may be the first built in
6-42
UP 50001 may be the last built in 11-59 or maybe
even NYC 498991-498996 built in 1-61
There are earlier cars with a 21' loading platform
which seem to be shorter.
The ICG car(s) was probably nee IC.

One of the E&P models was specifically based on UP 50001. Found this N scale model photo with Google -- http://www.bbussey.net/ns/p/fNH17082.jpg Tim O'Connor I'm reluctant to list all the railroads that had similar cars because I have no way of telling how similar any are to the specific model, but it looks like the railroads listed only scratch the surface. |
