Source for 1-72 Pan Head Screws

Bill Welch

I like using 1-72 pan head screws for some things and find myself out of them and cannot remember what my source was. I know Woodland Scenics packages screws but they are pricey IMO. I am not fussy, stainless steel or brass would work fine. I need either 3/8" and 1/2" length. When I look online I am presented too many choices. I am curious if members have a suggested source. I want about 50 or so.

Bill, McMaster Carr is a great source for these, and almost any other thing you need like this.   You can order on line, if they don’t have it you probably don’t need it.  Todd Horton

Hi Bill,

I like J.I. Morris (www.jimorrisco.com) as a source for small brass machine screws. We used to sell them in the hobby shop where I worked while in college, so I go back a few years with this line. However, Morris doesn't offer a pan head; the closest thing is an oval fillister (see www.jimorrisco.com/index/product/id/66).

Good luck,

Andy

Look in your local yellow pages for nuts, bolts, and fastener companies I
your local. Much cheaper than hobby shops.

Yeah, but Bill was looking for LESS expensive. Doubt anyone charges more per unit than Walthers.

Others have already given you plenty of leads, but here's who I use:

http://www.microfasteners.com/

Bud Rindfleisch

Micro Fasteners carries many different head type miniature screws. I've been using 2-56 button head allen screws for truck mounting and 0-80 button heads for Kadee 802 coupler mounting (S scale). They look so much nicer than a slotted screw.

Hi Bill,

Another good source that I didn't see mentioned is www.microfasteners.com. They have a good selection and are reasonably priced.

North Model Railroad Supplies <nmrs@...>

Microfasteners have a limited range of 1-72 in brass.

Micro Mark have some shorter brass 1/72 in both round and flat head.

More expensive than Microfasteners but they have sizes MF don’t have.

Cheers
