Sunshine Kit 18.2 C&O Box Car w/Deco Ends

Mark.Rossiter@...

I have been looking without much success for Sunshine Models kit # 18.2 - AAR 1937 C&O Box Car with Deco Ends.  I know one popped up on Ebay a few weeks ago as part of a 6-kit offering.  Since I wasn't anxious to pay $200 or more for the one kit out of six I really wanted, I opted to pass up on it.

If any of you have one of these kits that you would be willing to part with, please contact me OFFLIST at Mark.Rossiter@....

Not a direct solution to your request and I always prefer to build it myself, but Intermountain announced this car in two different paint schemes a few months ago. I believe you can still preorder.

Be advised that Intermountain has announced prototype-specific HO scale models of the 1937 AAR boxcar variations, including the C&O Deco end cars (Stock Nos. #45793, 45794, 45793, expected release date February 2017).

Thanks Mark!  I guess I missed that announcement.

Thanks Ben!  One can only hope the fidelity to the prototype is better than some of their offerings.  The drawing suggest that they are going to use the correct roof and doors, if nothing else.

Mark,

I have two of these kits, one built and one still in the box.  They are quite crude in a way, and I was never happy with the one of them which I built.  I even took it apart and used the kit ends on a Red Caboose car instead.  I still didn't like it and I have never finished it.  Among other things, the ends seem overly thick, and the body side tabs, which are separate pieces, are rather "clunky" (is that a RR term of the art?).

I'm waiting eagerly for the Intermountain version.

I may have one such C&O Deco Sunshine kit available.  Anyone is free to contact me off list.   Mark Rossiter gets first dibs.

I would mention this off list but in this not-so-new-anymore yahoo environment, there is no contact-the-poster-directly button I can see.

I did see one of these for sale on I believe the Missouri Pacific table at C'ville. Might try contacting one of thier members to inquire. I think InterMountain is doing this car in styrene.
