Diagonal Plate Loading and Freight Car Shipment

Gang;

Does anyone know of photos, write-ups, and other sources for diagonal loading of steel plates, from U.S. Steel mills, and the freight cars that served this?

I know a decent amount on the PRR F25 and G36 class cars in this service, but would also welcome additional info on ANY of those cars, plus the specific mills that did it.

I know USSteel Homestead was one, and one of the Bethlehem facilities, but no good details on either.

Any stories, data and photos are very welcome!

Thanks!

Hi Elden,

Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, PA shipped large steel plates in the 1960s-70s that had to be loaded diagonally on edge in gondolas to fit in the clearance diagram.  I have some slides somewhere of a PC gon or two with the wooden rack that supported the plate and maybe with a plate load.  This maybe past the era of your interest, but if you want a scan, let me know, and I'll have to dig to see if I can find the slides.
