New Accurail 36-foot box cars
Eric Hansmann
I’ve posted a first look at the new Accurail HO scale 36-foot box car kits on the DesignBuildOp blog. These are a welcome addition for railroads set between 1910 and 1950.

Really appreciate seeing this "First Look" Eric. I suggest using the Precision Scale Retainer Valve part #PSC31796 instead of the Tichy part. They come four to a packet and they are very fine jewel like replicas of the real thing.

Thanks for the tip, Bill. I have several of these Tichy retainer valves with the wire already installed and ready to mount on the model. I'll check on the PSC part for upcoming upgrades! Eric Hansmann El Paso, TX On March 5, 2017 at 6:15 AM "fgexbill@... [STMFC]" <STMFC@...> wrote: |

Agreed, thanks for the review. My local shop has yet to get them in after a couple initial ones trickled in. Matt Goodman Columbus, OH, US On Mar 5, 2017, at 8:15 AM, fgexbill@... I'm
looking forward for different paint schemas of these cars! However one
is an absolute need, the ladder steps and handholds are to remove and
must be replaced by such made from wire!
Here a picture where I did same on 40ft models - http://us-modelsof1900.de/wp-content/gallery/1930er-modelle/ab-brake_10ks.jpg

Well done Bernhard. Do you plan to upgrade the Sill Steps also?

Eric, Thanks for the review. These cars are just on the edge of my era, but looked so neat I bought the NKP one. I cannot figure out how you were able to attach the small styrene strips to the roofwalk ends, or the brake platform. So I used 0.010" x 0.018 brass stock, drilled holes for one end into the body and applied CA from inside. Actually I used 0.015" brass wire I flattened, but if I were doing several I would get the flat stock. Tom Hayden |
