An interesting prototype ... I was this a one-of-a-kind?

An earlier photo of caboose #355, also taken in Council Bluffs in the 50s shows it had an offset cupola and was minus the horizontal steel straps. They must have been added to reinforce the body, which is looking a little rough. The angled straps were present when the cupola was in place. The trucks have been changed as well.

Here is photo of 355 before the steel straps were added. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=108494

Caboose Nos. 350-365 we ex-DM&N purchased from the D&IR by the CGW around 1930.  Not a ton of pictures exist of all the cars to know how many were modified but besides 355, caboose 354 also lost it's cupola, but it received a bay window.

I could swear (nicely) that I have seen plans for CGW 355 published in one magazine or another. This tingle a brain memory cell in anyone?

As a side bar, the under frame from caboose 354 was used for transfer caboose 176.
