Decal Adhesive
gtws00
I have just returned from the 2017 Chicagoland RPM and learned of a new product made by Tamiya form a modeler that attended my clinic at the meet. Sorry as I missed his name but he mentioned that he learned of it from a Military Modeling site and it was a new offering. It is Tamiya Decal Adhesive for decals that are left in the water too long and have lost their ability to adhere. Might be an interesting product to try out. Might be good for Resin rivets and such as well. I see that it is available on Amazon Link to product http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/87176/index.htm The RPM was well attended with all display tables filled with great models. Got to meet many of the Resin and Steam Era Freight modelers who attended. George Toman |

What does this do that a traditional decal setting solution does not? Ben Hom |

Thanks for this information, George and, most importantly, for that excellent clinic.

Unless I dreamed it, Tichy sent an email recently advising customers to use white glue on some of their larger decals so maybe this is a better solution than than Elmer's.

I recently received one of the Tichy decals for a steam era box car. The ink has a texture to it like you see on business cards.

Have any of you seen this and have tried to apply it? If so what was the result?

I used some letttering only on an N scale reefer(needed URTX reporting marks for a Central of Minnesota lease). The decals were admittedly small. They applied fine and snuggled in well. I have a set for the EJ&E map scheme but won’t have that car done for quite a while Good luck, Joe Binish On Oct 29, 2017, at 6:23 PM, LEKASING@... [STMFC] <STMFC@...> wrote:

Missed that email from Tichy. I have some Tichy PFE sets now in storage where the SP-UP medallion decals would not adhere. The black PFE lettering adhered OK with dio-sol. Ken Adams |

This discussion about adhering decals reminds me of the thread (which after all I started) about using Future as a binder between the decal and the model. Seems like a reasonable approach.
