Accurail acquired Rib Side Cars tooling

Time for an update...

I have just now finished inspecting and identifying all the alternate inserts, and finally pulled the big four slide mold open to see what was installed. I can now definitely state that ALL the tooling that George Schmidt created still exists, unmodified. The rumor that he had existing inserts re-cut to make his later products is unfounded.

Yet to be decided is which kits are going in the Accurail line, but the tooling for cars we don't re-release is going to sit on the shelf, where it could be available for custom runs.

Does anyone happen to have any of the old Rib Side Cars instruction sheets? Drawing an assembly drawing is going to be a pain, far easier to adapt a scan of the old sheets. If they say Copyright Rib Side Cars, we now own the rights, so no problem there.

Dennis,
I have about 6 or 7 or the kits and will scan and send your way.
I can also put these in the file section if anyone wants them

Thanks to all who responded, I knew I could count on you. Now, before I get buried in attachments, I think we have enough to work with now. If I find we are missing something, I ask again for the sheet from that specific kit.

Dennis,

I'm glad to hear Accurail has purchased George Schmidt's tooling and parts.  These are cars Milwaukee modelers have wanted for decades.  Sorry that he closed his company.

See the attached list for the Rib Side Car kits I have.  Most cars were on his website.  The 5411 and 5413 kits were not.  These are the 40ft cars "stretched" to 50ft  by added a 10ft section in the middle.  The 5411 and 5413 are the same car with different lettering.

Contact me directly if you want any information from the kits.
