Prototype drawings/photos help needed

Eric Hansmann

Sorry for a late thought on this but the RPM got in the way.

I suspect the B&O ventilated M-14 car could be built by modifying the M-13 kit with vents and scratchbuilt ventilated doors.

There were 483 M-14 and M-14a cars listed in the October 1926 ORER.

These were built by the Ralston Steel Car Company and no drawings were preserved. There is a builders photo on the Columbus Railroad web site.

Under 1910:

There is a little more information on the Westerfield web site: https://id18538.securedata.net/westerfieldmodels.com/merchantmanager/index.php?cPath=99_447

These cars were similar to the B&O M-12 especially the riveted fishbelly underframe which were based upon the PRR class XL and built when the PRR controlled the B&O.

Thanks Bob.That's about what I expected but asked because it was such an interesting car.

Don,

The class was last listed in the Summary of Equipment for 1927, 29 cars. They were all gone by the S of E for January 1, 1928.

Built in January 1910. A different style of ventilated car. Did any of these manage to survive WW II?

Thank you! That is exactly what I was hoping to find.

It most certainly is, but it won't help research on a B&O Class M-14 ventilated boxcar that was gone well before the merger. :)

Here's more information on submitting research request to the B&O Railroad Historical Society archives.

I am looking for photos and/or drawings of B&O class M-14 ventilated boxcars for the purposes of modeling same.  I've not had much success with Google searches and I'm just not worldly enough to know what other resources might be available to me or how to access them.   Any and all assistance will be appreciated.

Sincere thanks and I hope to see some of you in person tomorrow in Chicagoland !

Brent
