While the gon is a former EP&SW car, the El Paso & Southwestern company was not merged into the SP until 1955. The SP leased the line starting November 1, 1924, but a formal merging was not until 29 years later.

One of those typical railroad history minutiae, comparable to the fact that the Central Pacific, leased to SP in 1885, was not formally merged into SP until 1959. It might be safe to say about either factoid, that only an attorney would care.

While technically true, the SP wasted no time in erasing EP&SW reporting marks.

The gon is ex El Paso & South Western. They were not an SP subsidiary, just merged into the SP in 1924.
