Good news that the deco end cars are shipping. Last time I looked at their website they’ve been listed as in production for a while. Now maybe the C&O cars I’ve had reserved for years will arrive. Curt Fortenberry |

I wonder if I will hear from Caboose Hobbies. I put an order in before they closed down on Broadway.

I rather doubt that you would hear from the new Caboose as the ownership is all new & all the personal there are all new. Larry Wolohon

I don't intend for this to be a criticism, just an observation. I ordered an Intermountain C&O box car with Deco ends about eight months before I moved to Germany. That was in early 2015. It's taken five years for those models to come to market!

I built a C&O model years ago using a Des Plaines Viking roof kit. I used Keith Reterrer (sp) ends and doors. Also used his 3 panel doors on M&StL auto cars. Talked to Kieth about his castings at CCB. Sounded like he can still produce them. I think his are better looking than the IM model myself.

Clark: Do you have contact info for Keith? Or can you act as go between? I also had a reservation with Caboose...no joy... Thanks, Paul Bizier |

Clark, How do I find out if ends are available? Francis A. That model was built 20/25 yrs ago? I remember an article in MainLine Modeler? where a guy modeled a bunch of C&O cars. I believe that's how I contacted Keith at the time. About that time Keith got ahold of a freight car photo collection. Then he died! We come out of the grave for CCB this past January. I'm sure someone has his new contact info? I don't.

I may be mistaken, but as I recall, at the time of the changeover the new owners said old orders would be honored. I'm sure that was well-intentioned, but I never really thought that would happen. I don't hold it against them and I go to Caboose whenever I get to Denver. I had covered my bets later by ordering through my "local" (90 miles away) hobby shop (the Whistle Stop in Portland) and they called me yesterday to say my order had come in. It's all good. A bit later, Sunshine issued the car as a kit, an enticing prototype to lighten my billfold at Naperville. No five-year wait, and the modeling opportunity -- priceless. :) I did the transition era paint/lettering scheme -- the as-delivered black was pretty much gone by then. And yes, it has avoided weathering shop so far....

I didn't see them last time we were there...Although there was so much other stuff stacked in front of where they were it's hard to tell? Guess I shouldn't have passed on them? CW Propst |

Does anyone know if the IMRC model has Viking roof and 3 panel doors? Maybe someone could post a few photos. Francis A. Yes to the Deco end model having a Viking roof and 3 panel doors. I took the attached photo last week to show a friend the end. It doesn’t show the door or roof well and I’m away from my car now.
Now that IMRC has tooled the 3 panel door, they have C&O and C&EI cars with dreadnaught ends and 3 panel doors on advanced reservation.
