Elden's comment about steel-related railroads prompted me to dig out this photo of Patapsco & Back Rivers gondola 127. It was from series 100-199, a 52' 6" mill gondola. The photo was taken at Philadelphia in 1949. In 1959, these were the only freight cars listed for the PBR in the ORER. This car was offered in the PK2 line, and for some reason I bought one. I think it was the first of their kits I assembled.
Most of the officers of the PBR are listed as being in Bethlehem, PA. Was the PBR a Bethlehem Steel railroad?
The coincidence of the reporting mark PBR also being the popular handle for an adult beverage was not lost on me.
