Wrecked M-K-T Stock Cars

For your enjoyment:

Two wrecked M-K-T stock cars on the Toledo Terminal Railroad. I don't know the date, but the derelict steam locomotive is TT 62.

M-K-T 47485 is from series 47001-47500. Inside dimensions: L 40' 6", W 8' 6", H 8' 7"' doors: 6' X 8' 2"; capacity:  2980 cubic feet, 80T. Single deck. According to my October 1958 ORER, there were still 410 of these cars left. Surprisingly for a Texas railroad, this was the only class of stock cars M-K-T owned at that time.

Yours Aye,

Friends,

I was surprised to discover the very photo of TT 62 (of which I own a print) on George Elwood's Fallen Flags site. The photo was taken in Kansas City, Missouri on 25 August 1951 by W. Krambeck.

Yours Aye,

They were "modern" stock cars, built 1937=1938.

Tim, the MKT car resembles the I-GN stockcar built a couple years later.

Attached … if the magic works … is a bit from the December 1937 issue of the Katy’s employee magazine at the time the 47001-series stock cars were being built by the railroad.
