Interesting. I thought there was an icing platform down there somewhere, but if you look at the bottom of that photo, just left of center, there is a string of reefers with their hatches open and a couple of men on the roof of one close to the near end of the string, and what looks to be a portable ice hoist... in 1926, no less. Still a lot of horses in use at that time.
