P-S riveted boxcars
Scott H. Haycock
Folks,
Were Pullman Standard's Bow Tie roofs ever applied to their riveted box cars that were built just before the PS-1 welded box cars were introduced? Thanks, Scott Haycock

Pat Wider has a great presentation on these cars and covers them in RPC vol 1

I think the welded PS-1 was always the standard. Some railroads wanted riveted sides.

Are you asking about the pre-1950 bow tie roof, or the 1950+ bow tie roof? Both are now available from Tangent as detail parts. Tim O'Connor

Scott, Short answer is no. Prior to production of the earliest PS-1 box cars in June 1947, earlier riveted-side box cars built by Pullman-Standard to AAR designs used a variety of roofs to include Murphy, Viking, and various versions of flat-panel riveted roofs. Hope this helps. Regards, Ed Hawkins
