Ambroid Livesay Poultry Car

Douglas Harding

Just to clarify, Livesay was the name of the car, LPTC 2501. Live Poultry Transportation Company was the name of the organization that owned the car. Most poultry cars carried names, ie people, places, birds; along with their car number.

Records indicate the last poultry car ran into the late 50s, possibly as late as 1961 according to the AAR. Thus covering the entirety of the scope of this list.

The poultry cars (and Livesay Company) are an interesting sidelight to early steam period.  I thought that some on the list might be interested in this; it has just been relisted on Ebay because the $139.00 selling price did not meet the reserve!
