Cocoa Beach Photos

Railroad Model Craftsman’s March issue has 10 pictures from the recent Cocoa Beach gathering, so some cameras were allowed inside.

Is there now a rule about allowing cameras inside the function?  Several years ago I took pictures inside; at least I think I did.

There is no such rule. I attended two meets and took many photos, as did people around me.

No. Whoever wrote that comment was either being sarcastic or misinformed. Hard to tell on email sometimes.

For what it's worth, let me put this one to rest right now.  As one of the organization team for the Prototype Rails events, there is certainly no ban on photography in the model display rooms.  There may occasionally be limitations on photography in the clinic presentations, due to copyright/ownership restrictions on the photos that may be shown during the clinics.  But items displayed in the model display room are always fair game.

I assumed it was a joke. But sarcasm is certainly possible. Tony Thompson

yadda yadda yadda... so where are the photos?? :-P

Lighting is often terrible at RPM meets. One favorite was a Naperville RPM
display room with large south facing windows, lots of natural light

Here are a few overview shots I took.   There are much better ones in the March issue or RMC.

Unfortunately, this limits you to just the stuff I like best...

BTW - those two first photos of the SAL double door car were the pilot model for this year's Shake-N-Take project, presented by Steve Hile.  For those not familiar, this is an annual event at the CCB Prototype Rails meet.  It was started by the late Greg Martin and is being carried forward by those who love the program.  The first 40 or so registrants for the program receive all of the project kit components at the time of the clinic presentation.  For those interested, sign up to the 'Shake-n-take@groups.io" website and you can see all the previous projects, reference files, participant updates, and related discussions/announcements.

The project for next year is already well underway and will be officially announced Thanksgiving weekend (ish).
