GATC 1948 design numbers

The tank behind 25017 looks similar as well, but it looks like it might be 10k gallons. I'm wondering if the dome platform is a later style as the photo seems to be mid-late 50s (?) at the earliest.

The OMI model does represent a specific group of 8k GATC tank cars, and if you remove the
model's dome handrails, I think you'd have a close match for the Celanese car. Now who makes
Celanese tank car decals ? :-D

This NATX Dow Chemical tank car 25017 looks like it's a GATC 8k as well but the dome platform
is a different style.

Thanks Tim. I am also awaiting the plastic release of the Type 30s as I could use at least 6.

The Celanese tank car that you posted seems somewhat similar to OMI 3270, which purports to be a model of an 8k GATC insulated car, but the Celanese car looks longer and narrower than OMI 3270. It does make me wonder if 3270 is actually a 10k insulated car. There are photos of some similar tank cars in Vol. 2 of Steam Era Freight Cars Reference Manual.

They were not built in huge numbers as far as I know. GATC also built riveted tank cars of the
same size at the same time -- Those were imported in HO scale brass by Drake, and I think there
was an HO scale resin kit for them as well. GATC also built 8k insulated cars in 1948 including this
Celanese Chemical tank.  If you know of other insulated cars and have photos please share them
with David Lehlbach at Tangent! :-)

How many GATC 1948-design ICC-103 tank cars were built? I have two of the Tangent model but don't know if more would be justifiable.
