I’d posted a photo of the weathered roof on the FB resin builder group and RJ Dial commented he liked it. Here’s a visual of the technique.
I just use three water based oils, white, black and blue and mix with paint thinner in a plastic lid. Second from the bottom shows the applied color. Let dry for a few days and then go over with black Panpastel.

Is that color change at the transition from the applied "galvanized" paint to the body color coming from the pan pastel? -- ------------------- RJ Dial Mendocino, CA
No, there’s no PanPastel on that car; it’s just the oils painted on top the BCR. It’s been a while since I did that car but I may have used a darker gray in a few spots or the thinner, as the paint dried, caused the darker outlines. -- Charlie Duckworth Omaha, Ne.
