This is described as “…a practical reference book for those actively engaged in station work--an everyday guide for the station employee--a comprehensive text book for the student of railway station duties.”

There are a number of interesting tidbits in this book. For example, here are a few recommendations on re-weighing livestock cars:

5. Temporary double-decks in stock cars should be removed before cars are weighed.

6. The old light-weight stencil marks should be entirely painted out with quick- drying paint.

7. Before cars are weighed, the accuracy of the scale must be regularly certified by the scale department, the scale must be properly balanced and free from interference, and the weighmaster must know that cars are clean.

8. Cars should not be light-weighed during rain, snow, sleet, or heavy winds, except that when cars have been materially changed by repairs, alterations or repainting they must be weighed, even if it is necessary to do so under unfavorable weather conditions.

I have written a couple of times about this very useful book in my blog. Below are a couple of links, if you’re interested.
