Ray Breyer, in talking about a series of stocks cars, says:
...Swift, which sold their car line to Quaker City in 1930, and then to GATX which bought Quaker City in 1934.
In his book, Epstein gives a different chronology for these corporate mergers (along with dates for a lot of other GA acquisitions): Quaker City to GA in 1928, Swift to GA in 1930. ORER entries appear to support this timeline. Is there something more/different to the story that has turned up?
Nope: just a straight read of the ORERs, which I attached yesterday. Review the notes at the bottom of each listing for "return for repair" notes.
I have a different timeline for Street's, Canda, and Burton as well, different from both Epstein and White. I also have the supporting documentation. I'm currently working on a piece on stock car leasing companies, which is why I have all of this material handy.
