This PRR … Panama Rail Road … dates from around 1849. It was constructed with 5’-0” gauge track.

The current railroad is the Panama Canal Railway that started operations in 2001 after rebuilding the railroad over the previous two years. The line was rebuild to Standard Gauge, 4’-81/2”.

A little off topic but a railroad with an interesting history.
