You could try making the load with notches in the bottom to fit over the cross-ties. Or just fill the car with loose chips and invert it to unload.

Folks,
One of my projects is based on a photo of an ex- C&O steel hopper converted to a wood chip car with wood extensions. The extensions have cross-ties in three locations, across the top.

Has anyone ever come up with a way to make a removeable load for cars like this? I'd rather not have to build two identical cars!
