The CGW modified 2 of their center cupola cabooses (NE 5s – NE does not mean NorthEastern) by removing the cupolas and adding regular locomotive all-weather windows as side bays, they also blocked in some of the windows. Jason Klocke just did the same thing with a plastic model. Started out as a black NH car with broken end railings and ladder. He showed me the model during a facetime and we discussed how to make the changes. When he showed me the finished model I asked for photos thinking it was nice enough to share. His description of the was only a lot of swearing was involved ; )) He did say the new end ladder was made for bent stock, not sure if it was styrene or brass? And he mounted the ‘Lucky Strike’ decals on plates as per the prototype. From our discussion I’m assuming the cupola roof was used to fit the cupola void and a DA all-weather window was used. Typical for the CGW the two cabooses had they number in different locations...
