The UP Painting Lettering & Numbering drawing is posted at :

And there is a B&W photo following that of a car likely painted 6-'47, which would probably be White lettering.  But the exterior lettering did not change when the color changed from White to Armour Yellow in 1947-'48.

Read the revision notes on the drawing to get the chronology of painting and lettering changes from 1943 to 1957.
There is also a UP freight car painting chronology at the end of that gallery (which needs some corrections, but not for this Group).
