The Teas Extract Company provide chestnut extract for the tanning industry, which it shipped as liquid in tank cars and dried powder in barrels and bags via boxcars. The company liquidated and shut down the end of 1955.

Anyone have ORERs from around that time and would be willing to look up TXCX car total, numbers, etc.?
I have the January 1953 ORER that the NMRA did the reprint on, and it has the following info -
Shows a total of 46 cars, all TM. Of those, 22 had reporting marks of ATEX, and the rest had TXCX reporting marks. All cars had a capacity around 8,000 gallons. No info as to their ARA Class

I asked a friend who has a good collection of the NC&StL Bulletin publications to look for the source article. It’s from the January 1952 issue and he scanned the article for me (see attached). Turns out “Teas” is the last name of the company’s president. According to the article, two of the company’s tank cars were painted with the “GIVE BLOOD” slogan with a red cross separating those words. Note the “NASHVILLE, TENN” under “COMPANY.” This company was located on Centennial Boulevard in west Nashville. The cars were routed from Nashville to Gowanda, New York, via Chattanooga, TN.
Anyone have ORERs from around that time and would be willing to look up TXCX car total, numbers, etc.?

I found the attached item in the June 1952 issue of RAILROAD magazine. Does anyone have information on or photos of those tank cars? What “extract” did they haul from Tennessee to New York?
Any information will be appreciated!

Unfortunately, most searches turn up what it is used for today, not in the 50's. Today it is mainly from green tea and used as a supplement to prevent half of the world's ailments and cure the other half.
