QUESTIONABLE E MAIL

Although this is a fake, similar e-mails could be from a relative reaching out to sell what's left of a model RR business. |

WILLIAM PARDIE
Gary and others for validating my suspicions on the McKown e-mail. I’m glad to hear that bill is still around. Above are two examples of why I was so enamored with the models that Bill imported. They required very little if any upgrading. I was in touch with Bill when I painted the NP boxcar. He pointed out that the color recommended on the Microscale decal sheet was incorrect. The 44 tonner was painted by a friend. Hope you enjoy. Thanbks again: Bill Pardie |

Bill,
I got the same. I, too was confused and thought about asking publicly if there are other receivers. Now you came first - proving that it's scam/ their account had been hacked. I had direct contact with William 2 or 3 years ago (via this account where we just got that §!&$/% from), I purchased some parts because he still had/ has an inventory, last year I emailed him again but didn't get a reply.
I don't know if he still is with us, but I really hope so!
Greetings
Johannes (still unable to write directly to you, so please don't wonder...)

I just received suspicious? e-mail from William McKown titled "Checking In" and requesting a reply. It comes from a Rosilyn McKown.
If this is from Bill McKown from W&R Enterprises which has been closed for 15+ years, I would like to respond.. My last contact with Bill was over 25 years ago before I had e-mail. I have always been a great supporters of Bill and the quality of his brass imports. T one time my freight car roster was unbalanced with cars from the Pacific Northwest because of the quality of his models.
Does anyone know if Bill is still with us?He did an article in Model Railroader in the 1960's which kind of establishes his age. If this e-mail is truly from him I would like to contact him but am skeptical.
Thanks:

I am not aware of his ever e-mailing anyone and the title sounds like a fraud.

Rule 1. Delete any email that looks suspicious. If it's important enough, they will reach out again.

I doubt it. There has been a lot of that kind of email going around. And the different return address confirms it.
