B&O M-58 Auto Car - Chad Boas MiniKit
Bob Chapman
First -- a thanks to Fenton Wells for the original inspiration, and to Charlie Duckworth whose how-to tutorial was a big help in jump-starting the project here.
The model is Chad's MiniKit roof/ends/parts, a BL 50' DD boxcar, and a Plano 50' Morton runningboard.
I mostly followed Charlie's instructions, with a few exceptions. Charlie indicated that his resin roof was short vs. the carbody plus the resin ends, and added strips to the ends of the roof as a correction. I had the same situation, but went the other way, sanding the backs of the ends to thin them enough to fit under the roof.
Fun project -- and thanks, guys, for the help,
Bob Chapman
Great job Bob, I especially like the painting and finishing., very nice

Bob. I just finished my M-58 last week; I added upper and lower door stops, A Line Stirrup's and a Details West Equipco Brake wheel and housing. I had to scratch build the Duryea Under frame because it was missing from the kit. I am currently waiting for a warm day to paint it. Hard to find B&O Oxide Red in Scale coat II lately. I would like to do Chad's M-59 but I cannot find any 40' Double Door AAR Boxcar kits without ends. Will Keep looking. Very nice model BTW.

Looks terrific, Bob. Love the in-service shot. I've been working on my M-58 for five or six months. I wanted to add a lot of the rivets missing off the side sills, and had a hard time motivating myself to put them on. I finally finished that and sandblasted my car this week. Paint next.
What do you have lined up next?

You made a great job of that and the weathering looks really good as well.

Paul,
Thanks for the shout out, mate, but my model is at present, un-painted. It was Bob Chapman who posted the very nicely finished M-58 model. BTW, it was Fenton Wells who was the inspiration for this project and recommending this "Kit Bash" as a Group Build for our 2022 RPM Carolinas Meet, a few months ago. I can personally thank Fenton for his help answering my questions and providing me with information to help speed the build process.
