Cornell Red - LV

Kevin Macomber

Apparently, there are two Cornel Reds.  One is referred to by AF-415, the other is C6537A (Dupont) which is New Cornell Red.  There is very little information on this and wondered if anyone had the equation to make the older one.  The newer one is what TruColor appears to be selling and it is brighter.

Thanks, Kevin

Hi Kevin,

You may not be able to find it anymore, but I like Scalecoat #62, LV Cornell Red.

Good luck,

For me, the best "original" Cornell Red is/was Pollyscale #360 but that is getting harder to find these days. The advantages are: 1. It is not as dark as most of the others, and 2. It is water based.  The "new" Cornell Red I believe is best handled by Model Master Guards Red.

Ed if you need some, I have 16 bottles of PS 414360 on the shelf. The issue is finding one in solvent based paint. The TruColor is the modern, dark color.
