Notice what looks to be a spiral drop end on one of the gons coupled to a flatcar. Is it a Monon gon?

No, the Monon gons were tight end. It has to be Soo Line, from series 7001-7499 odd, built by Pullman 9/23, lot 5345. There was, as far as I've been able to determine, only three groups of cars built with these ends: a group of Monon cars, 500 cars built for the Clarkson Coal Mining Co. in 1921 that went to the Soo in 1927, both groups having tight ends, and the above mentioned Soo cars with drop ends. Part of this last group was re-built with tight ends by the Soo.
