High and Wide Load

I recently acquired most of the 1940 issues of the Illinois Central employee magazine.  In the February issue there was an article on the movement of 4 large boilers for the Chatham Park rental project.  The boilers weighed 34,000 pounds each and were 16 feet 10 inches above rail height on the flat cars.

Thanks for posting that photo. Here’s the RCW version of the Kewanee boilers on my railroad. It looks like mine are shorter. I know they came in different sizes.
