Sad news to report, Joe Oats (Uncle Joe) passed away this morning at Tampa General hospital. Joe was an active railman and modeler, well known throughout the Southeast.

Yes, that is sad news.  He didn't look good at Cocoa and I was worried about him.  He was a wonderful person and fought the fight well.  Loved his railroad stories.

I thought it funny that we called Joe "Uncle Joe."  He always looked old to me but I discovered that he wasn't much older than I am.

This is indeed sad. Joe was a great railroader, modeler and a wealth of information on SAL/SCL passenger equipment. He will be sorely missed.

Oh my.  I've known Joe for a long time; since I joined the ACL-SAL Hysterical Society was back in the 80s.  We're all geting older.  Green lights Joe.
