Looking for a particular boxcar end

Dave Bayless

Hello list, I know someone has the boxcars ends I'm looking for or knows where I can get them. Years ago, the Rensselaer Railroad shops made a 1923 boxcar end which was a 3-4 reverse Dreadnaught end for an 8 ft 7 in height boxcar. It was offered separately as a resin casting. Since the Rensselaer model railroad society has moved the railroad shop is no longer operating and doesn't even show up in a Google search. F&C made a B&A 36' boxcar kit for them which use this end. F&C still offers this kit. John Nirick wrote an article on a Western Pacific rebuilt double sheath boxcar which use these ends and I would like to try my hand at it.
Does anyone know where I can get these ends or does anybody have these ends that they would like to part with? Let me know off list at davebayl@.... Thanks, Dave Bayless

Brian Carlson

Just ask F&C for them. Steve has been good with parts over the years.

Thanks Brian, I did send an email to F&C asking but have not received a reply yet. I will try again. Also I was thinking perhaps of buying the Boston and Albany car and building it with a wood end which they had and take the reverse Dread nut ends off to use for the Western Pacific car kit bash.

Hahaha.. when we say "ask Steve", that does not include email. Steve does not often function in that media. Give him a call at the number listed on their website. You;ll be more likely to make contact.

Agreed. I have never gotten a response to any email I sent them. I gave up on that approach a long time ago.

Um yeah never email F&C. The only time that worked is the one time I was working on them with a project and needed to send them stuff via dropbox.   Sharon was their tech person for that.
