New Rapido 52' 6" Mill Gondola

Rapido is producing a Canadian (National Steel Car & Eastern Car Company) mill gon. Nice looking model:

Is this model accurate for, or very close to, any gons owned by a US railroad?

Thanks,
Robert Simpson

Robert,

Jumping in a bit late here, but... in a word... no. However, the majority of the cars were in general service and traveled widely. We have several photos from Bob's, etc. taken in various locations throughout the US.

Reviving this 10-year old thread.  The following description is from the Rapido website regarding their 53'6" mill gon.

"These cars and others almost identical to them were built in large numbers by National Steel Car (Hamilton) and Eastern Car Company (Trenton)."

Does anybody know what they mean by "and others almost identical to them" means?  What I want to know, are the Rapido CN & CP models correct for those roads, or is it "almost identical" for these roads?

Thanks!  Chris

Thanks for your prompt reply Tim, I just ordered a CN version from Lombard Hobbies.  They have both CN & CP in their "delivery scheme" on sale now for $29.99 in case anyone else is interested.

Please be notified that these Z-bar 52' Canadian gondolas were built in large numbers of 4'0" IH and 3'6" IH and Rapido has just done one height. The two Canadian RR's each favored a different height though around 500 of the other height cars were purchased to make a single height car correct for both RR's. I forget who had the more talls and who had the more shorts. John Riddell certainly knows. TH&B, Algoma Central(?) and the PGE (BCR) had similar cars but check the heights before purchase and the fixed ends.
