New York Central Box Car 157306
Lester Breuer
I have built and upgraded New York Central Box Car 157306, a 1937 design steel box car. If you are interested in the upgrade of this box car including a method to remove underbody molding gate and thinning running board. And, painting, some lettering and weathering with Pan Pastels. Photos and writeup of the build and upgrade process are now available on my blog I have to share photos and writeup of modeling projects on my Minneapolis & Northland Railroad Company. If you would like to take a look please do at the following link:

Like Lester, I could use a few more NYCL cars appearing in overhead traffic on my tiny SP at Port Costa layout. I have an undecorated (I undecorated it myself from a garish right red M&StL scheme) unbuilt IM 40719-xx kit (1937 AAR kit) and wonder if this could the basis of a full kit build of a same series NYCL car as the IMWX build. I have most of the othe parts available in my car stores including Yarmouth ladders. I even have some NSC NYCL decals left from another project.
If it ever stops raining (I never thought I would be able to say that living in California) and I can get out on the porch to coat the shell, ends and roof with Tamiya Red Oxide primer it could be an interesting project. Unlike Lester, I don't really have enough basic PRR cars of any type for a good overhead traffic mix but that is another story.

Jim I was not aware of the Richard Hendrickson article for IMWX cars in the June 1994 RailModel Journal. I looked in my mag collection and find I do not have that issue. I would like to read the article. If you have time to scan and send my way I would appreciate you doing so.

Are you sure about that issue of RMJ (June 1994)?
I get it from the trainweb site, but it doesn't seem to have an article on the IMWX cars?
