Do you think the ends on this PFE reefer are oxide-red, or is this a problem with the photo/scan that
just makes them look oxide-red? The car appears to have a 1960 paint date, so it's not faded or
heavily weathered.

Tim. It is black. Look at the color of the PFE lettering on the car side. It is an "oxide" shade too. Must have been the photo color process.

Note that the lettering also appears red.  I suspect a photo scan variation.
