R.I.P. Charles Vlk
I did not know him personally.

I did. He and I were, at the time, both officers of the Cumberland Division, SER, NMRA. We traveled and roomed together to Cocoa Beach in 2022. He was one heck of a nice guy, and he’ll be missed by everyone in middle Tennessee, as well as among the CB&Q crowd.

I was saddened to hear news of Charlie's death. I had been in touch with him a few times over the last couple of months and noted a couple recent discussion list responses. We attended an RPM Chicagoland event a few years ago and had a great time. He had also been part of the leadership team of our NMRA Cumberland Division in metro Nashville.
Here's an October 2022 photo with Charlie staffing the registration and check-in desk at the NMRA MIni-Meet we hosted in Murfreesboro, TN.
We had a great time that day with 60+ modelers attending the one-day event. Lots of smiles all around. Also in the photo, from the left to right, are John Wark, Tom Schmidt, and Dan Cole.
Charlie will be missed in that group and our hobby. He had recently been producing graphic art work for Jacksonville Terminal projects.
