Scherer coal structure
Eric Mumper
Group,
Please pardon this request as I would like to lean on the knowledge base of this group to find more information about a rail served industry. If there is another group I should be joining to ask this, please let me know.
In Ottawa, Illinois there was a local coal delivery company served by the Q that had a large coal bin and I am trying to track down pictures of this kind of structure. The only pictures of the actual structure are poor and I am making the assumption that others like this existed. Scherer brothers had a coal building built in 1920. By the time I was taking pictures all that was left were the piers. See:

The gons/hoppers of coal would have been on a track on the side of the building. I am not sure if delivery trucks would have run under the piers to load or not. If anybody has information I would appreciate it. Thank you.
