Stock car model identification

Jay Styron

Some time ago, I found this model at a swap meet. It was so nicely built, I bought it. Ever since, I have wondered if it was a kit, or scratch built. Does anyone recognize it?
Thanks,

I have seen those at shows too. For what they are its a nice looking car. Anybody have prototype info and knowledge on how long they lasted?

Thanks

Thanks to those who responded, got me on the trail of this model. So, it’s Ambroid “1 of 5000” number 11, according to the info with the photo, link attached.

Here’s a MP diagram of these cars after the feeding doors had been removed.

Ambroid probably got information from Car Builder Cyclopedias!  A photo and drawing, plus ORERs would
answer the rest.

The sliding feed doors are what I like about it. Gives the car a very rustic appearance. I seem to recall a 50s shot but it might have been late 40s of a stock car (not this prototype I assume) still with the feeding doors.

Hi List Members,

For those modeling in the correct scale, the car is available in RTR plastic... see attached image. I made a few minor improvements on mine, but it is not radically different than what came out of the box.
