FYI, in Warren Wing's Northwest Rail Pictorial (p. 121) is a 1943 photo showing an IC GS gondola (blt GATC 1940) #85121 on a Milwaukee Road local south of Seattle, loaded with lumber! So at least duri

Same book; this time a D&RGW GS gondola loaded with coal, on an NP [mixed] local in Centralia, Washington in the 1950's... (So, it would appear Utah coal travelled to Washington state.) Timothy O'Conn

REA colos
Apparently REA changed their paint scheme in 1952, adding the diamond logo, at which time the name was taken down off the letterboard and put on the left of the door, maybe to help balance the scheme.

Steel reefers

Does anyone know of a resource that points out the differences between the early steel reefers of the major refrigerator lines? What I am trying to determine is, using the PFE's R-40-10 through R-40-2

"Post No Advertisements"?
Guys, In my collection are several pictures of Cotton Belt wood sheathed boxcars built in the mid-1920's. On the upper right side of some of them is stenciled the admonition "Post No Advertisements".

Has anybody out there seen this piece of crap that Eastern Car Works just brought out? It looks like the tooling was cut in the 30s or 40s, even before N&W built them. Somebody please send them plans
