is this a top chord reinforcement 3 messages
Hi List Members, The link below shows a RDG gondola. Along the top chord, I see an area that has been altered - is this a top chord reinforcement, or is this damage that has not yet been repaired? htt

100-ton Andrews trucks in HO 17 messages
As long as we're talking about trucks, I am looking for a pair of HO scale 100-ton Andrews trucks, solid bearing, for a steam-era tank car I am working on. Specifically I am working on a model of OZCX

Hi List Members, Whose hopper cars were these? Unique construction. It appears the reporting marks were painted out, leaving only the road number but no sign of the owning road. A 1936 date shows on t

RDG 12343 / Reading 12870
So Reading has a variety of cocao cars... 22870 has different roof hatches and different hopper doors than 12343. 12343 does appear to be repurposed drop-bottom box car, with the regular hopper doors

RDG 12343 -- not what I expected
Well, this IS a double sheathed car, and I would surmise that if you removed the exterior sheathing, you’d see the bolts holding the framing for the slope sheets there in the interior sheathing . . .

Guys; I have asked my B&LE/Union RR/EJ&E/other steel roads friends, who model earlier than I do, and will report back. The defect card holder is a clue….. Elden Gatwood

About 10% of the North American boxcar fleet in 1950 was 36ft. Southern owned a fair number of such survivors, maybe even this one: https://pullman-lib.smugmug.com/Railroad-R-S/i-TF4QLQ8/A Dave Nelson
